What Brothers are Saying about being a StrongBeach Nupe !

The Long Beach Inglewood South Bay alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi is a group of Black men pushing themselves to achieve for their community and their families.

They embrace the saying Iron sharpens Iron. I like that we have all generations. I can hear the wisdom from the older brothers as well as listen to the younger brothers trying to make their way.

If you are looking for a group of imperfect black men attempting to live unapologetically look no further.

These brothers will stand by you in your failure and help you get up.

Being a part of “Strong Beach” has provided me with a sense of belonging and camaraderie that I will forever cherish. The bonds formed with the brothers are some of the strongest and most enduring connections I have ever made.

My role as the Chair of the Strong Beach Open Charity Golf Classic has been “labor of love”. Working to bring our corporate sponsors and members of the community together with the brothers in the chapter to support our Guide Right/Kappa League has been rewarding. In addition, working to bring Brothers together around one of my passions, the game of golf, has been a bonus!

I am grateful to be a part of Long Beach Inglewood South Bay Alumni Chapter for the memories, friendships, and lessons learned. I am thankful for the impact it’s had fostering a community where brotherhood, leadership, and achievement are celebrated. I say “Yo” to the Nupes of Strong Beach!

There is no greater honor than to be a Strong Beach Nupe. We are the Krown Jewel of the Western Province. I have had the pleasure of being raised by this chapterbecause my father Brother Jimmie Theragood was a long time member and a Stallworth of the Beach. I am a product of our award winning Kappa League and Guide Right Program. I am extremely excited to be a part of the next generation of leaders to help grow our Chapter to new heights.

KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC. Long Beach Inglewood South Bay (CA) Alumni Chapter

The Long Beach- Inglewood South Bay (CA) Alumni Chapter was chartered to realize the vision of graduating brothers from The Epsilon Kappa (eK) ChapterCalifornia State University at Long Beach.  These visionary young men wanted to continue their Kappa journey as a collective alumna, in pursuit of Phi Nu Pi.

On April 30, 1977, The Grand Board of Directors of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. approved a new charter, establishing The Long Beach (CA) Alumni Chapter.

From 1977 into the 1980’s, the chapter successfully embarked in establishing long range planning, fundraising, and reclamation strategies designed to impact the community while increasing membership.

Annual collaborations & alliances were established with Los Angeles area churches, The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Los Angeles-NPHCLA, civil & legal professionals, and community outreach/service providers. It was because of these partnerships; the chapter led the charge for service within Long Beach- and beyond.

As a result of the chapter’s unprecedented community impact & growth, the men of Long Beach Alumni petitioned the Grand Board of Directors of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity inc. and was awarded an expanded service area.  Hence, on July 14, 1984, The Grand Board of Directors approved the re-naming of the chapter to The Long Beach- Inglewood South Bay (CA) Alumni Chapter, reflecting the chapter’s expanded service area.

The chapter has been recognized with multiple national awards for service. Throughout the chapter’s rich history, many members have served on national commissions & committees along with many being elected as Western Province Officers. The chapter has also earned several awards for outstanding contribution to the Western Province, including multiple Chapter of the Year and Guide Right awards as a medium & small chapter.
Today, the men of LBISB (StrongBeach) have ascended to the Large Chapter category, increasing its membership to nearly 100 men of Kappa!

We proudly recognize these achievements by acknowledging our chartering members.  It was their vision and inspiration that set a foundation of Achievement  our illustrious Founders would be proud of.
